Getting Started: OpenRCT2 Online Tutorial
New to OpenRCT2? This walkthrough gets you from an empty park to your first profitable rides. For deeper learning, visit the OpenRCT2 site.
1) Start a Park & Pause
- Begin with New Game (scenario) or Sandbox.
- Pause time while planning paths, entrances, and ride placement.
- Use the camera controls to scout flat land and key areas.
2) Lay Down Paths & Essentials
- Build paths from the park entrance toward your first ride area.
- Add benches and bins early to keep guests happy.
- Place bathrooms and a few lamps near busy routes.
3) First Ride: Simple Profit
- Place a gentle ride (carousel / ferris wheel) near the entrance.
- Build the queue + exit and connect them with paths.
- Set a reasonable ticket price and open the ride.
- Watch guest thoughts to tune price and capacity.
4) Staff & Cleanliness
- Hire handymen and set patrol areas around paths.
- Add a mechanic for inspections and breakdown fixes.
- Use patrol zones to keep high-traffic areas consistently clean.
5) Expand Smart
- Add a food/drink stall near rides to increase spending.
- Build a small coaster once income is steady.
- Keep queues shaded/short and avoid path bottlenecks.
Tip: Guest flow matters—wide paths near hubs pay off.
6) Saves & Sharing
Save any time; the browser version supports import/export so you can continue on desktop.
- Keep a “milestone” save before major expansions.
- Experiment with scenery themes once your finances are stable.
